Food safety is an important issue for everyone including parents, cooks and chefs. We want to make sure you are cooking your food safely so it doesn’t hurt anyone, including yourself. Food poisoning has serious consequences that can last long after the initial illness. It’s worth making sure you’re doing it right!
This blog post will cover some of the most common mistakes people make when buying food at the grocery. There are many different types of bacteria that can get into your food if you aren’t careful, which is why we’ll go over a few things you should be paying attention to while shopping at the grocery before preparing food at home.

When you buy food in the grocery, buy non-perishable and household items first. Your last stop should be the perishable food items like raw meat and fish. Now here is the list of Don’ts for your food safety tips.

Don’t buy:

• chilled or frozen food which is not chilled or frozen
• dented cans or cans that are out of shape (may cause botulism)
• eggs that are cracked or has dirty egg shell (may cause salmonella)
• expired food items (may cause food poisoning)
• expired meat, poultry or fish or dairy products (may cause food poisoning)
• food with damaged packaging including open or broken seals
• fruit or vegetables with broken skin, moldy or discolored food items
• meat or fish that has an unusual color or odor
• open or leaking containers
• potatoes that are green or have sprouts
• unpasteurized food such as milk, juice, cheese or honey
What are some things you can do to make sure that the food you buy is safe? The most important thing to remember when shopping for groceries, of course, is avoiding any foods with mold. This means checking labels carefully and tossing anything if it looks like there might be a problem. If something doesn’t look or smell right, don’t eat it! You should also avoid buying deli meats without refrigeration; they’re often left out on counters until someone buys them. And lastly, always wash your hands after handling produce before touching other items in your cart—especially meat products! It may sound simple but this will help keep bacteria from spreading around.
