SQUID GAME DALGONA CANDY RECIPE – What a comeback! A South Korean street vendor’s candy Dalgona was used in Netflix series Squid Game and it has been causing people to search for homemade Ppopgi recipes to do their own challenge #squidgame for Halloween. Dalgona or Ppopgi is a traditional Korean candy treat that is perfect for the holidays. It is usually cooked with a ladle and is made with sugar and baking soda to make it crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons granulated white sugar
- 1 pinch baking soda
Directions

Spray a baking pan with oil or line it with parchment paper and set aside.

Add two tablespoons of sugar in a small pan or ladle then place directly over low heat

Wait for the sugar to melt (about 3 minutes) then start to stir gently until it turns a light amber color.

Remove from heat then add a pinch of baking soda and mix in vigorously for about 10 to 15 seconds

Pour the mixture onto parchment paper and let it sit for 30 to 40 seconds (test to see that it doesn’t stick to a spoon)

Press with a flat metal object sprayed with cooking oil or lined with parchment paper

Remove the press after 10 seconds then press again with the shaped cookie cutter
