PAKSIW NA BANGUS | MILKFISH | RECIPE

What’s a good dish to cook for the family on those busy days? Paksiw na Bangus, of course! This recipe is easy and quick. All you need to do is place all the ingredients in a cooking pan, turn on the stove… and voila! You’re done in no time. The ingredients are mostly available at any grocery store. You can’t go wrong with this one!

 

Ingredients

  • 600 grams cleaned, scaled and gutted milkfish cut into slices
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup julienned or sliced ginger
  • 5 cloves crushed garlic
  • 1 medium sliced onion
  • 2 cups okra
  • 2 pieces green or serrano pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon whole peppercorn
Directions
  1. Place all the ingredients in a cooking pan
  2. Cook for 20 minutes under medium heat
  3. Add salt to taste
  4. Serve your paksiw na Bangus with bagoong or fish sauce
Variations
  • Some people prefer not to remove the scales of the milkfish
  • you can add about 1-2 cups of chopped eggplant or bitter gourd
  • you can also wait for the fish and other ingredients to boil before you add the veggies
